On the Course
- Front windows fully open.
- No passengers except approved instructors.
- Come to a full stop after every run.
- Stress Safety!
- Waving or standing RED FLAG means STOP!
- Always keep an eye out for cars on course. Never turn your back to a moving vehicle on course.
- Know locations of cones in your work area. If chalk mark gets washed or worn away, alert Timing & Scoring so that starter can freeze the course and repairs can be made to the marking.
- If Red Flagged: Stop your car, wait to be told to proceed, finish your lap at half speed and, unless you were the problem, get a re-run. • Do not drop off your Instructor until you are back in the grid.
- If during your run you notice a downed or misplaced Cone: STOP and POINT it out,
- proceed to finish and get a re-run.
- Cone Penalties
- Out of box or knocked over: 2 seconds
- Running over a cone is NOT off-course.
- Standing and touching box = no penalty.
- It is the driver's responsibility to change the numbers on multiple driver cars in a clear manner.
- Numbers should be at least 10-12" in height, bigger the better and of good contrast. White tape on yellow car is NOT good contrast! See our sponsor vinylguy.com for great price on magnetic numbers for your car! Use shoe polish as last alternative and only acceptable on vehicles with tinted windows.
General Rules and Info
- 10 MPH Speed Limit in Paddock. No racing outside of the designated lot,
- Never leave anything on the ground in the Grid (keep gear in Paddock)
- Don't run over anyone's stuff in the paddock. Watch out for one another
- No riding on hoods, trunks, etc.
- Work assignments are mandatory or you will receive a DNF & be banned from one future event. Be alert, stay on your feet, and don’t run with the flag or radio. Flag station person-working radio and flag must NOT chase fallen cones. Flag station workers may rotate as to who chases cones.
- At end of drivers meetings you should know what heat you are racing in and what heats(s) you are working in.
- Drivers Meeting is mandatory.
- No switching cars during competition. Save it for fun runs. If your car breaks down, you may finish your runs in another car that has already been tech’d, but only the runs in the 2nd car will count (or vice versa), you'll still get all your runs.
- Make sure you have signed the waiver, including spectators
- Fun runs can only be done with a car that has been tech'd and only open to drivers who attended the drivers meetings. Spectators may ride as passengers provided they sign the waiver. Fun runs are $2 for Non-NASA members and $1 for members.
- If an Instructor drives a novice's car, this run counts towards that driver's total runs. It will be recorded as a DNF. The Instructor needs to notify timing before they drive a novice’s vehicle.
- You must pick up your all of your garbage (we are NOT your maids!)
- Stay up on the curb & ask your friends and family to do likewise.
- Never walk out on the course for any reason!!
- Parade laps will be run at the beginning of each run group's 1st heat.
- Novice meeting will immediately follow driver's meeting.
Classing
If a car is incorrectly classed, please see a NASA Staff Member and we will get it straightened out.
